CRAFTMAS Part 1 – Emporium Craft Space: Pottery

My lovelies, it is that time once again. Christmas is nearly upon us. I mean walk into a mall today and the tunes will be out. Christmas decor is everywhere we look and we know that gift buying will be a priority. If, like me, you struggle to think in terms of what you should get everyone – I am here to solve that for you. Together with the team from Alfern SA and the Emporium Craft Space – we have collaborated on giving you guys 4 weeks of Craftmas. The perfect gifts to give those loved ones. So let’s get to it with part 1.

ABOUT EMPORIUM CRAFT SPACE

Emporium Craft Space is a melting pot of artisanal goodness. It is a collective collaboration between artists, bringing their goods to a well throughout retail space. Here you can walk in and simply take your pick of handcrafted items, unique in its own right. Emporium Crafts Space can be found in the heart of the WERK_ space in the Baakens Valley. I have to say this area has become the home of all things artisanal and dare I say the creative hub of Port Elizabeth.

POTTERS’ HAND CERAMICS

I had the privilege of meeting this wonderful artist when I was doing my first year in Media at NMMU. He spoke of his work in such wonderful terms. Each piece created is an extension of his faith and love. When considering a gift, I believe it should be personal. Filled with love and a personal touch. Bentley Van Wyk – a Ceramicist/director of Alfern SA, makes each piece intentionally, beautifully and precisely. Exactly how a gift should be picked out. With every piece crafted, no 2 are alike. In my opinion, there is no better gift than something made with such passion and love. Craftmas is off to a pretty good start, don’t you think.

PS: You can grab yourself a pot, use it a planter and take your pick at any of the succulents – all this in store. #BUILDAPLANT
